The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government has announced the launch of a new online ACT Migration Application Portal, which is expected to go live during the week commencing 27 July 2026.
The upgraded portal will replace the existing system used for Canberra Matrix and ACT nomination applications, introducing a more secure and streamlined experience for skilled migration applicants.
Key Highlights
- New portal launch: Week commencing 27 July 2026
- Enhanced security with multi-factor authentication
- Real-time application status tracking
- Improved mobile-friendly interface
- Ability to edit or withdraw Canberra Matrix submissions lodged through the new portal
- Measures to strengthen the integrity of ACT migration applications
New Application Fees
From the 2026–27 financial year, the ACT Government has introduced the following fees:
- Canberra Matrix submission: AUD 25 (excluding GST)
- ACT Nomination application: AUD 325 (excluding GST)
Existing Applicants
Applicants who have already submitted a valid Canberra Matrix do not need to lodge a new submission. Existing Matrix applications will be transferred automatically to the new portal.
To access their application, applicants will need to create a new account using the same email address used for their original Canberra Matrix submission.
What This Means for Skilled Migrants
The new portal is part of the ACT Government’s ongoing efforts to improve the skilled migration program through enhanced security, greater transparency, and a more efficient online application process.
Individuals planning to apply for ACT nomination under the Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) or Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) visa pathways should familiarise themselves with the new portal and updated application process before submitting their Canberra Matrix.
Hodophiles Xplore Visas will continue to share the latest Australian migration updates to help applicants stay informed and prepared throughout their migration journey.
