🇨🇦 Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) Points Calculator – How It Works

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is one of Canada’s most popular pathways to permanent residence for skilled workers.

Manitoba uses a points-based Expression of Interest (EOI) ranking system to assess and select candidates who can contribute to the province’s economy.

This calculator helps you estimate your MPNP score based on the five main selection factors used by Manitoba Immigration.

🎯 What This Calculator Does

This tool instantly estimates your score out of 1,000 points.

It covers the Skilled Worker Overseas and Skilled Worker in Manitoba categories, depending on your profile.

Your score determines your ranking in the EOI pool and your likelihood of receiving an invitation to apply (ITA).

🧮 How Manitoba Points Are Calculated

Your score is made up of five key factors:

1️⃣ Language Proficiency (Maximum 125 Points)

Points are awarded based on your Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) scores in English or French.

Scoring Example:

  • CLB 8 or higher in all skills: 125 points

  • CLB 7: 112 points

  • CLB 6: 100 points

  • CLB 5: 75 points

  • CLB 4: 50 points

  • Below CLB 4: 25 points

Tip:
Better language skills significantly improve your ranking.

2️⃣ Age (Maximum 75 Points)

Your age on the date you submit your EOI determines your age points.

Scoring Example:

  • 21–45 years: 75 points

  • 46: 70 points

  • 47: 65 points

  • 48: 60 points

  • 49: 55 points

  • 50: 50 points

  • 51: 45 points

  • 52: 40 points

  • 53: 35 points

  • 54: 30 points

  • 55: 25 points

  • 56: 20 points

  • 57: 15 points

  • 58: 10 points

  • 59: 5 points

  • 60+: 0 points

Tip:
Applicants aged 21–45 get maximum points.

3️⃣ Work Experience (Maximum 175 Points)

Points are awarded based on full-time work experience in the past five years.

Scoring Example:

  • 4+ years: 175 points

  • 3 years: 165 points

  • 2 years: 140 points

  • 1 year: 100 points

Additional:

  • Recognized trade certification: +100 points

4️⃣ Education (Maximum 125 Points)

Your highest level of completed education determines your score.

Scoring Example:

  • Master’s or Doctorate: 125 points

  • Two post-secondary programs of at least 2 years each: 115 points

  • One post-secondary program of 3+ years: 110 points

  • One post-secondary program of 2 years: 100 points

  • One-year post-secondary: 70 points

  • Trade certificate: 70 points

  • Secondary school: 35 points

5️⃣ Adaptability (Maximum 500 Points)

Adaptability is the most heavily weighted factor. It assesses connections to Manitoba.

Examples:

Connection to Manitoba:

  • Close relative: 200 points

  • Previous work in Manitoba (6 months+): 100 points

  • Completed post-secondary in Manitoba: 100 points

  • Invitation to apply: 200 points

Regional Development:

  • Intending to live outside Winnipeg: +50 points

Spouse’s Language:

  • Spouse CLB 5+: +20 points

Additional Factors:

  • Valid job offer in Manitoba: +500 points (Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream)

📝 Example Calculation

Scenario:

  • Age: 32 (75 points)

  • CLB 8 (125 points)

  • 3 years of work experience (165 points)

  • Bachelor’s degree (110 points)

  • Sibling in Manitoba (200 points)

  • Intending to live outside Winnipeg (50 points)

Total Score:
75 + 125 +165 +110 +250 = 725 / 1,000

This would be a strong score, often above the cutoff for invitations.
