The U.S. is facing growing concerns over delays in F-1, M and J-1 visa appointments as the Fall 2026 academic session approaches.
A group of 30 U.S. senators has urged the State Department to address the shortage of student and exchange-visitor visa appointments, warning that delays could prevent international students from reaching the U.S. in time to begin their academic programmes.
The issue is particularly significant for Indian students, many of whom are still struggling to secure appointments for the upcoming Fall intake. Reports indicate that appointment availability has remained a major challenge for students trying to meet university joining dates.
