On September 24, 2026, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted EOI Draw #280 and issued 474 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) across several selection categories.
The biggest component was specifically aimed at candidates working in natural sciences, engineering, architecture and information technology occupations:
- 417 invitations issued under the occupation-specific selection
- Minimum ranking score: 760
- Candidates needed to be currently employed in Manitoba
- The targeted occupations fall primarily under NOC Broad Occupational Category 2, covering professional, technical and specialised management occupations related to natural sciences, engineering, architecture and IT.
The remaining invitations included 1 family physician, 16 Francophone candidates and 40 candidates selected through strategic recruitment initiatives.
What makes this draw interesting?
The important point is that this was not a general Manitoba draw for all occupations. Manitoba specifically selected candidates working in STEM-related occupational groups.
It also shows how provincial programs can use occupation-specific selection alongside their broader immigration pathways. For professionals in IT, engineering, natural sciences and related fields, monitoring individual provincial programs remains relevant rather than looking only at federal Express Entry draws.
