Canada Launches Updated Express Entry CRS Calculator Ahead of Major November 2026 Changes
Canada’s Express Entry system is preparing for one of its most significant updates in recent years. Ahead of changes taking effect on 3 November 2026, an updated Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) calculator is now available, allowing candidates to estimate their scores under the incoming rules before the changes go live.
What Is the Updated CRS Calculator?
Immigration News Canada has released a revised CRS calculator that reflects the new scoring structure announced by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Candidates can use it to estimate their CRS score under the new system and identify how the November changes may affect their Express Entry profile.
The updated calculator includes:
- Revised job-offer points – estimates points for qualifying job offers in eligible high-wage occupations, without requiring a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
- Updated Canadian work experience scoring – reflects the new points structure, including additional points for eligible high-wage Canadian work experience
- Automatic language-score conversion – accepts IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, PTE Core, TEF Canada and TCF Canada results and converts them to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) equivalents
- High-wage occupation assessment – helps candidates check whether their Canadian occupation falls within an eligible wage tier
- Detailed CRS breakdown – shows an estimate of points across all factors, helping candidates spot areas for improvement
What Changes on 3 November 2026?
Under the revised rules, the CRS will introduce a new Labour Market Integration factor. Key changes include:
Job-offer points without an LMIA
Qualifying job offers will no longer need an LMIA to attract CRS points. Points will vary based on the occupation’s wage tier – 50, 70 or 100 CRS points are available depending on the tier.
Additional points for Canadian work experience
Candidates with eligible high-wage Canadian work experience may also attract additional points. The exact amount depends on the occupation’s wage tier and duration of experience.
One route only – work experience or job offer
Candidates can receive points through the qualifying work-experience route or the job-offer route, whichever gives the higher score. These two sets of points cannot be combined.
What Should Express Entry Candidates Do Before 3 November 2026?
If you are already in the Express Entry pool, here is what to do now:
- Review your profile and confirm that any job-offer information is accurate, especially if you hold a qualifying offer without an LMIA
- Use the updated calculator to estimate your revised CRS score under the new rules
- Note the pause in draw rounds – IRCC has confirmed that invitation rounds will pause temporarily during the recalculation period, potentially for up to two weeks
- Do not rely on CRS score alone – your language results, education, work experience, Express Entry category eligibility and provincial nominee pathways all shape your overall strategy
IRCC has confirmed that existing profiles will be recalculated automatically once the changes take effect, so no action is needed for the recalculation itself.
Important: The updated calculator provides an estimate only. Your official CRS score is determined by IRCC and remains the authoritative figure.
How These Changes May Affect Your Canada PR Strategy
The removal of the LMIA requirement for job-offer points is a significant shift. Candidates with a genuine qualifying job offer in a high-wage occupation could see a meaningful increase in their CRS score – potentially 50 to 100 points – without the cost and delay of an LMIA.
At the same time, the wage-tier structure means not all job offers will attract the same points. Understanding your occupation’s classification under the new rules is an important first step.
