The CRS Calculator is used under Canada’s Express Entry system to rank candidates applying for permanent residency through one of three programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is the official points-based system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to assess and rank profiles in the Express Entry pool.
This calculator helps you estimate your CRS score based on the key criteria used by the Canadian government. Here’s how each section contributes to your total points:
These are the most important elements and reflect your personal profile:
✅ Age
Points are awarded based on your age at the time of application. Younger candidates receive higher scores (maximum points between 20–29 years). The calculator automatically determines your age based on your date of birth.
✅ Education
The level of education is a strong factor. The higher your qualification (e.g., Master’s, PhD), the more points you receive.
✅ First Official Language Proficiency
Canada values strong English and French skills. The calculator requires you to enter Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels in four abilities: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. Each ability contributes separate points, with higher CLB levels (9–10) earning the most.
✅ Second Official Language
If you have proficiency in the second official language (English or French), you may gain additional points if all CLBs are at least 5.
✅ Canadian Work Experience
Points are awarded for full-time, skilled work experience in Canada. More years of Canadian work experience mean higher scores.
If you include your spouse or partner in your profile, some core factor points are slightly reduced, but you gain additional points based on your spouse’s:
Education level
Language proficiency (lowest CLB in any skill)
Canadian work experience
The calculator dynamically shows or hides these fields when you indicate if you have a spouse.
These are combinations of education, language proficiency, foreign work experience, and Canadian work experience. They can add up to 100 extra points.
Examples:
High education combined with high language proficiency
Foreign work experience combined with Canadian work experience
Certificate of qualification with good language skills
Note: Even if you select all combinations, the maximum available in this section is capped at 100 points.
You may receive significant bonus points if you have:
A valid Provincial Nomination Certificate (+600 points)
A valid job offer from a Canadian employer in certain NOC codes (up to +200 points)
Canadian educational credentials
A sibling in Canada
High French language proficiency
These can dramatically increase your chances of being invited to apply for permanent residence.
When you enter your details and click Calculate CRS Score, the calculator:
Reads all your inputs (age, education, language scores, experience, etc.).
Applies the official CRS point rules as per IRCC guidelines.
Calculates a total score out of 1200 points.
Displays your total CRS score and an eligibility message.
If your score is 470 or above, you are likely to receive an invitation to apply, depending on the Express Entry draw thresholds.
If your score is below this, you may still improve your profile by increasing language scores, gaining more experience, or securing a provincial nomination.
This calculator provides an estimate only.
Official points are determined by IRCC upon profile submission.
Always consult updated Express Entry rules before applying.

While a 470 CRS score is competitive, it's essential to note that recent Express Entry draws have had varying minimum scores. However, there are opportunities to enhance your profile and increase your chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency. You can explore options like improving your language proficiency, gaining more work experience, or securing a job offer in Canada. Additionally, a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) nomination can significantly boost your CRS score. We recommend assessing your profile and identifying areas for improvement to maximize your chances of getting PR.
To score 67 points for Canada PR, focus on the following key areas:
- Language Skills: Achieve high scores in English or French proficiency tests like IELTS or CELPIP.
- Education: Highlight your educational qualifications, such as a Master's or PhD degree.
- Work Experience: Showcase your relevant work experience, especially Canadian work experience.
- Age: Being between 18-35 years old can earn you maximum points.
- Arranged Employment: Having a job offer in Canada can boost your points.
- Adaptability: Factors like having relatives in Canada, previous study or work experience in Canada, or your spouse's language proficiency can also earn you points.
Possibly! Canada's immigration strategy is shifting, with category-based draws and higher immigration targets. This might lead to lower CRS cutoffs, making it easier for more applicants to qualify. Stay ahead of the curve by improving your language proficiency, considering a Provincial Nomination, and maximizing your core CRS score. Stay updated on the latest immigration news and trends to boost your chances of getting invited!
To increase your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, focus on the following key areas:
1. Improve Language Proficiency: Boost your English or French skills to achieve high scores in language proficiency tests like IELTS, CELPIP, or TEF.
2. Enhance Education: Pursue higher education, such as a Master's or PhD degree, or get your foreign education assessed for Canadian equivalency.
3. Gain Relevant Work Experience: Accumulate experience in a skilled occupation, especially in a field in demand, to earn more points.
4. Leverage Age: Apply early, as maximum points are awarded to applicants between 18-35 years old.
5. Get a Provincial Nomination: A nomination from a province can significantly boost your score by adding 600 points.
6. Optimize Spouse's Profile: If applicable, highlight your spouse's language proficiency and education level to earn additional point
A good CRS score is one that gets you invited! But to give you a better idea, here are some general guidelines:
- Competitive scores: 480+ points (good chance of getting invited in general draws)
- Provincial nomination: With a nomination, even a score of 300-400 points can be competitive
- Category-based draws: Scores can vary depending on the category, but 400-450 points might be sufficient for some categories
Keep in mind that CRS scores fluctuate based on the number of applicants and immigration policies. Focus on maximizing your score, and stay updated on the latest trends to increase your chances of getting invited!
