Australia’s National Minimum Wage has increased by 3.5% from July 1, 2025. Here’s what you need to know:
New Minimum Wage Rates:
– Hourly Rate: $24.95 per hour
– Weekly Rate: $948 per week (based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee)
– Annual Rate: $49,296 per year
Who’s Affected:
– Approximately 2.9 million Australian workers who have their pay set by an award will benefit from this increase
– Employees covered by an enterprise agreement may also be affected, as their base pay rate cannot be less than the base pay rate in the relevant award
Other Changes:
– Superannuation Guarantee: Increases to 12% from July 1, 2025
– Paid Parental Leave: Increases from 22 to 24 weeks, with superannuation now being paid on Commonwealth Paid Parental Leave
