The calculator evaluates candidates based on six selection factors:
- Language Proficiency (28 points): Points are awarded based on proficiency in English and/or French, Canada’s official languages, through approved language tests like IELTS or CELPIP.
- Education (25 points): Points are based on the level of education, verified by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if completed outside Canada.
- Work Experience (15 points): Points depend on the years of full-time, skilled work experience in occupations categorized under National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes.
- Age (12 points): Younger candidates (typically aged 18–35) receive maximum points.
- Arranged Employment (10 points): Points are awarded if the candidate has a valid job offer in Canada.
- Adaptability (10 points): Points are based on factors like a spouse’s language skills, prior work/study experience in Canada, or family connections.
Scoring at least 67 points does not guarantee immigration but qualifies the candidate for the Express Entry pool, where they compete for permanent residency invitations based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The 67-Point Calculator is crucial for skilled workers aiming to immigrate to Canada, ensuring they meet the basic eligibility criteria.
