The US Department of Homeland Security has announced additional fees for certain H-1B and L-1 visa petitions, with the new charges scheduled to take effect from September 9, 2026.
Under the new rule:
🔹 H-1B: Additional US$4,000 fee
🔹 L-1: Additional US$4,500 fee
The fees will primarily apply to certain large employers with 50 or more employees, where at least 50% of their workforce holds H-1B or L-1 status.
The change could increase sponsorship costs for US employers and may have an impact on Indian professionals working in the US, particularly in the technology and consulting sectors.
Important: These are additional employer-related fees and do not mean that every H-1B or L-1 applicant will automatically have to pay these amounts.
