Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted its second Express Entry draw of the week, issuing 7,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates with strong French language proficiency. This draw reflects Canada’s commitment to promoting bilingualism and supporting francophone communities outside Quebec.
The draw required candidates to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 379, making it one of the more accessible draws in recent months. To be eligible, candidates had to have created an Express Entry profile before 2:53 am Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) on March 6, 2025.
Express Entry is Canada’s primary system for managing applications for permanent residency under three economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class. By conducting targeted draws for French-speaking candidates, IRCC aims to strengthen the linguistic diversity of Canada’s workforce and enhance the growth of francophone minority communities.
The relatively low CRS score requirement reflects Canada’s strategic focus on attracting skilled talent with bilingual abilities. Candidates who meet the language criteria have a competitive edge in the immigration process, as French language proficiency is highly valued in Canada’s labor market and social landscape.
This draw follows a similar trend seen in recent months, where IRCC has prioritized candidates with language skills, work experience, and other qualifications that align with Canada’s long-term economic and demographic needs.
With 7,500 ITAs issued, this draw marks a significant step toward meeting Canada’s annual immigration targets. The focus on French language proficiency reinforces the government’s commitment to fostering a bilingual and multicultural society. Successful candidates will now have 60 days to submit their complete application for permanent residency
