Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted another category-based Express Entry draw targeting candidates with French language proficiency.
In the latest round, IRCC issued 4,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence to eligible French-speaking candidates.
To receive an invitation in this draw, candidates were required to meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 409
- Express Entry profile created before 10:20 p.m. UTC on 29 April 2026
Strong Focus on French-Speaking Immigration
Canada continues to prioritise French-speaking skilled workers as part of its broader strategy to strengthen Francophone communities outside Quebec and address labour shortages across multiple sectors.
The CRS cut-off of 409 remains significantly lower compared to many recent general Express Entry draws, creating a valuable opportunity for candidates with strong French language abilities.
What This Means for Applicants
Candidates with French proficiency may benefit from:
- Lower CRS score requirements
- Increased chances of receiving ITAs through category-based draws
- Additional CRS points for French language skills
- Faster pathways towards Canadian permanent residence
With Canada continuing to expand targeted Express Entry categories, French-speaking professionals are emerging as one of the strongest groups within the current immigration system.
Applicants planning for Canadian PR are encouraged to strengthen their language profiles and maintain updated Express Entry profiles to maximise their invitation prospects.
